Hi all, I have this annoying message that keeps popping up every time I switch on my PC. The message is as follows:
"C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\accelerometerdll.dll is missing" and I cannot get rid of it from the start-up menu. You can click on it, and it goes away, but the next time you switch the computer on, it is there again. I have also noticed that I can no longer run de-frag. I click on the icon, but it just says, "cannot run defrag" ????
The computer is an sony vaio running win 7 32 bit. The computer has 4gb ram memory, 500gb hard drive. Any help or advice would be very greatful. - Mike

DLL, or Dynamic Link Library, are files that are stored on your computer that allow programs to share code in order to perform certain tasks. A majority of dll files are needed to run programs on your computer, but there are some malicious programs that consist of dll files that can harm your computer or allow attackers to access your computer. DLL files must be unregistered before being deleted. Here are two methods for unregistering and deleting unwanted dll files.

You can troubleshoot that error by following these steps:

How to run sfc by administrator on windows 7:

  • Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories.
  • Right click the Command Prompt item and select the 'Run As Administrator' option.
  • Click Continue on the UAC prompt.
  • In the command prompt window, type the following command.
  • SFC /SCANNOW
  • Press ENTER.

(Make sure the command is entered exactly as shown, including the space)
This will take a few minutes to run, try not to use the computer while it is running.
After this is finished, exit any running programs and reboot the computer.

Still can't fix your dll errors?

You can Download a Dll Fixer
